Terms/FAQ 2018-01-04T13:05:39+00:00

You’ve got questions and we’ve got answers. Here are some commonly asked questions.
If any of this looks familiar, it’s because our info has been copied by our competitors, and then passed off as their own. We can’t believe it either!
Here we go:

  1. Are reservations required?

Reservations are highly recommended for all of our tours. We happily accept walk-ins, and will always do our best to accommodate you, though walk-in business is subject to availability. We accept online reservations up to 1 hour before tour departure time. If you would like to book on even shorter notice feel free to give us a call and we’ll see what we can do to accommodate you.

  2. How does the tour work?

Our tours have been designed to ensure the comfort and safety of all riders. Led by one of our awesome local guides, we bike single file from stop to stop, pulling over many times along the route for stories and photos.

Yes, we do ride and talk, that allows us to cover more ground than any other bike tour in the city. Don’t worry, all of the pertinent information is reserved for our stops. Our guides have been doing this for quite some time, they can multi-task – all while ensuring that you safely navigate the route with the group.

Our tour routes are so good that they have been copied stop for stop by at least 3 other companies that we know of! Again, we can’t believe it either!

  3. Do I have to know how to ride a bike?

Yes! This may sound like a funny question, but you’d be surprised how many folks show up for a bike tour that have never ridden a bike! If you are not comfortable riding a bike or have never ridden a bike, a bike tour is probably not the best choice of activities during your vacation. We want to take you out and show you a good time, but we can’t risk the safety of you or the other riders if you riding skills aren’t sharp enough for city riding.

  4. What comes with my tour?

We take care of all of the essentials for you. Included in every tour package is a smokin’ cool cruiser made in NYC, a cold bottle of water, helmet, basket, and an awesome tour guide of course. We even have a restroom at our office if you need relief before pedalling out :0

  5. What happens if it rains?

Rule #1 in the New Orleans bike industry, never listen to the weatherman! In the event a tour is cancelled due to bad weather (thunderstorms & lightning) we will contact you as early as possible to reschedule your tour. If we cannot reschedule you, your money will be refunded in full. We still roll rain or shine – In the event of rain, FreeWheelin’ provides ponchos to every rider for FREE! It’s the least we can do 😉

  6. What if I need to cancel or reschedule?

We understand plans change while on vacation. Should you need to cancel, we require 48 hours notice for a full refund. Just want to reschedule? Not a problem! Give us at least 48 hours notice to ensure we can place you on the tour that best suits your needs and your deposit rolls into your new reservation. Cancellations that are not due to bad weather or an act of God with less than 48 hours before the tour departure time, forfeit the deposit for purchased ticket(s) price. Sorry 🙁 you’ll be missing a great time.

  7. What kind of bikes will I ride?

All of our tour bikes are manufactured in the USA and are custom ordered specifically for our company with New Orleans in mind; they are single-gear, coaster brake cruisers with the most comfortable seats you’ll find here in New Orleans, so comfortable that many of our competitors have posed as customers to find out where we get our seats in order that they can put them on their own cheaper versions of our bikes! FreeWheelin’ bikes are very user friendly and a throwback to most of our childhoods. We buy the frames from our guys in NYC, and then build out the bike to our specifications. A ready-made bike from China in a box? Puh-lease, Not here Jack!

  8. Do I have to wear a helmet?

  9. Is there a rest stop?

Of course. During our very leisurely ride we will stop from time to time and tell stories in the shade. About halfway through our journey we will stop for refreshments and/or snacks at a local coffee shop which has restroom facilities as well. Be sure to bring some folding money, because many places still accept cash only.

  10. Do I need to be an avid biker?

No, but you do need to be a confident rider with the ability to ride through the streets with auto traffic. If you possess those skills, you’ll enjoy our tours – our rides are a leisurely paced with breaks for insights about the history of the surrounding sights.

  11. Can I leave a review?

Absolutely! We love feedback here at FreeWheelin’ Bike Tours. It’s the main catalyst to constantly improving our customer’s experience with us. You can hand write us a comment card on site, or leave a review on the various travel sites (i.e. TripAdvisor, Google+ etc.) or just tell us out loud. We want to hear what you have to say!

  12. Can I book a private tour?

Yes. Private tours can be booked by phone or email. Private tours cost more than a regular tour unless your group is large enough to buy all of the tickets for the tour time that you are interested in. Click here for more info. http://neworleansbiketour.com/custom-tours.html

  13. Should I tip my guide?

Tipping is a great reflection of how much you enjoyed touring with your tour guide. 10%-20% is recommended if you had a good time.
