Our Original ‘Creole & Crescent’ bicycle tour has been ridden by thousands of visitors since 2010 and has garnered FreeWheelin’ over 3000 5-Star reviews – that’s the most reviews written by happy customers for any bike tour company in New Orleans!
Why choose anyone other than FreeWheelin’?
Our original New Orleans bike tour explores the first 150 years of the city’s history, the period between the 1690s and 1803 – that’s before the Americans came to town via the Louisiana Purchase.
If you had to choose only one activity during your visit to New Orleans – this is the choice you should make.
Our ‘Creole & Crescent’ guided New Orleans Bike Tour is perfect for:
- First-timers
- Solo travelers
- Someone who has limited time to see as much as possible
- Anyone who loves bike riding, sightseeing, and new adventures.
- Those who are in Reasonably Good Physical Shape & of ‘Sound Mind.’
Starting at our shop in the French Quarter, our Creole tour will explore the following topics. Topics that are not listed often arise during conversation and questions during the tour:
- Your bike tour begins with a succinct yet essential portrayal of days past.
- An oral illustration of New Orleans’ first 150 years (from 1696 to 1803) of existence from it’s backwater beginnings to a “Land of Riches” as advertised by the French government in order to lure much needed settlers to the territory, to being known as ‘The Jewel of the South.’
- Native American, French, Spanish & American History of New Orleans.
- 1,000 year old Oak Tree grove in City Park.
- Our ride will take us to one of the city’s most famous cemeteries, Saint Louis Cemetery No. 3 (photo below), where we’ll show you above-ground crypts and explain to you why this is the way that we bury our departed.
- Emerging from the cemetery, our bike tour passes over Bayou St. John and into City Park where lives the largest grove of mature Live Oak trees in the world. Historic recollections of the old dueling grounds whereby bullet and blade, many proud and charismatic New Orleanians met their demise.
- A break for refreshments at a local coffee/juice/sno-ball shop is on the itinerary too – remember to bring some cash because not everyone takes plastic.
- Our journey back to the French Quarter begins with a ride on Magnolia Bridge over Bayou St. John and down oak-canopied Ursulines Avenue before crossing into the famous Treme neighborhood – a place that music is always playing and good food is always cooking!
- Reserve a ticket and you’ll find out.
- All that awesomeness while being immersed in the natural beauty of many of New Orleans’ oldest neighborhoods aka (‘Faubourgs’) – we call that, “Passing a Good Time” Mon Ami.
- A few blocks away we apply the brakes at home base in the French Quarter, where restrooms and refreshments await. We’ll answer any questions that you may have, and give you our recommendations about what else is a ‘must do’ while in New Orleans.
$50 general ticket includes a professional licensed tour guide, your bike with a bell & handlebar bag, a helmet, and bottled water.
*Tax, tour guide gratuity, cost of food & drink, are not calculated.

EXCELLENT Based on 1564 reviews Carol G2025-01-25Verified Great Bike Tour - A Must Brilliant Tour - Teddy was a great guide, funny & informative. Bikes were comfortable & felt very safe on the roads. Definitely recommend this tour. Cruiser296964336212024-12-28Verified The best way to experience NOLA! This was my second time with free wheeling. I went back in 2015 on a trip through NOLA and of all the things my family and I did, it was the only thing I still remember vividly because it was so fun. My family and I did the pedal bike tour in 2015, but this time I did the electric bike tour with my husband. Both tours are so fun and informative! Our guide knew so much about NOLA and you could see he really loved his city. This is definitely worth it! If I’m ever back in NOLA I would definitely do this tour again! Michael C2024-12-27Verified Great experience Tour guide was knowledgeable and added his own flair to history of the city. Very professional and serious about rider safety. Made stops at ice cream shop and some other unique sections of New Orleans. Would highly recommend. Marianna P2024-12-27Verified Get to know New Orleans with a true local We had a great time biking around New Orleans with our super guide, Teddy. Teddy is packed full of knowledge and we learned about so much New Orleans history. Susie C2024-04-23Verified Easy bike ride with some incredible stories and history along the way. Just book it! We took a tour with Teddy back in 2019 and loved it so much we came back and brought our friends! What I appreciate most is getting a tour of the city from someone who is not only local, but who clearly has such meaningful ties to his city and everyone in it. His storytelling style is so easy and unique. There no cheese or sugarcoating going on. It’s just a very cool, very straightforward history lesson and our group enjoyed every second. The ride itself was fun, comfortable, and extremely safe which allowed us to soak in the information he shared with us at each turn. Teddy is clearly known and loved around town and it was pretty cool getting to see New Orleans through his eyes. Can’t wait to come back and ride with him again Cameron L2024-04-09Verified Super awesome time!!! It ended up just being my boyfriend and myself on the tour, it was so much fun!
